There are many things in the world that “trouble” us—war, conflict, dissension, and more. In this passage, Jesus comforts his disciples (and us) by reminding them that there is room for all in his kingdom. Further, he reminds them that even though he will be going away, he goes to prepare for them to join him. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. . . . “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Are these the words of “comfort and joy” we hear about at Christmas?
